Recruitment hints and tips
Speculative applications
If your organisation accepts speculative applications (either application forms or CVs):
- Let people know how long you will keep their applications or CVs on file and how you will use their information
- Design your systems so information on adjustments is available to managers who access applications at a later date
If you offer email bulletins on future opportunities as they come up, ensure you have made provision for people who have applied offline in any format for a reason related to their disability. Consider offering to post details of jobs to them. Alternatively they may wish to give you the email address of a friend who could pass on the information. If you cannot provide this service, tell the applicant when they apply.
Remember: an employer who provides a lesser service to someone for a reason related to their disability may be at risk of discriminating against an applicant.
